SA pair sign off in Sweden
South Africa’s Ivanna Samu tied for 21 in the Annika Invitational Europe, fellow Gauteng golfer Kaleigh Telfer finished joint 37th and2014 runner-up, Ana Pelaez of Spain, claimed a three stroke victory as action wrapped up at Bro-Bålsta GolfKlubb on Thursday.
Tough day for SA quartet in Europe
It was day of struggles, tough conditions and frustration for the four South African juniors competing in international championships in Sweden and Germany on Wednesday. Ivanna Samu traded places with compatriot Kaleigh Telfer at the Annika Invitational Europe, while Woo-Ju Son slipped and Danielle du Toit continued to battle in the RB German Junior.
Son shines, but bees trouble du Toit in Germany
Gauteng junior Woo-Ju Son finished within striking distance of pacesetter Nina Lang after first round action wrapped up in the RB German Junior in Germany on Tuesday, but for a second day running, Danielle du Toit’s round was interrupted by Mother Nature.
Telfer cracks top 20 in Sweden
South Africa’s number two ranked Kaleigh Telfer broke into the top 20 in the first round of the Annika Invitational Europe, while fellow Gauteng golfer Ivanna Samu tied for 21st at Bro-Bålsta GolfKlubb on Tuesday.
SA pair primed to start at Annika
South Africa’s number one ranked Ivanna Samu and number two Kaleigh Telfer are relishing their debut in the fourth edition of the Annika Invitational Europe, which tees off at Bro-Bålsta Golf Club on Tuesday, 4 August.
The South African pair arrived in Sweden on the weekend and had a good look at the home course of tournament host and World Golf Hall of Fame member Annika Sorenstam during the Junior Am on Monday.

Park, who in 2014 won the Sanlam SA Women’s Amateur Stroke Play title but had never made it to the match play final before this, beat Samu with a birdie on the 23rd hole.

South African number one Ivanna Samu is still on track to defend her Sanlam SA Women’s Amateur title, making it through to Wednesday’s semi-finals at Kloof Country Club. Samu beat two of her friends in Tuesday’s third round and quarterfinals. In the morning she knocked out Woo-Ju Son 5&3, and then in the afternoon she had to work hard to beat Natasha Carlsson 1Up.

The 22-year-old Ruthenberg beat Gorlei 1Up in Monday’s second round at Kloof Country Club. Ruthenberg beat Gorlei in the first round last year.

The GFG Academy player claimed the Stroke Play title on Monday and defeated Lejan Lewthwaite at the 20th hole to clinch the Match Play title at Zwartkop Country Club on Wednesday.
