Cara meets Darren at the R & A Junior

The Junior Open, played at Fairhaven Golf Club, Lytham St Annes, was won by 16 year old Asuka Kashiwabara, from Japan. She is the first girl ever to win the Junior Open, and her amazing winning margin of 14 strokes after 54 holes is also a record for the tournament.

Bertine is leading amateur going into the final round of the SA Open

Bertine Strauss, on 150 (78, 72) is the leading amateur at the SA Open being played at Selborne Park Golf Club this weekend. A good level par 72 in windy conditions increased her chances of winning the Jackie Mercer Trophy awarded to the leadig amateur in this LET sanctioned event.

Bonita’s Benoni blitz earns her Sanlam SA Match Play title

Namibia’s Bonita Bredenhann overcame the disappointment of a near miss two years ago and won the Sanlam South African Women’s Amateur Match Play Championship at Benoni Country Club on Wednesday. Bredenhann beat KwaZulu-Natal’s Michaela Fletcher 3/2 in the final, producing some magnificent golf.

Fletcher on fire as favourites stumble in Sanlam SA Women’s Amateur

The Sanlam SA Women’s Amateur Match Play Championship has been thrown wide open, with all of the favourites knocked out of the tournament on a thrilling second day at Benoni Country Club on Tuesday.
South African number one Kim Williams and reigning SA Stroke Play champion Nobuhle Dlamini were beaten in the quarterfinals on Tuesday afternoon, while Bertine Strauss couldn’t get past the third round earlier in the day.

Williams leads favourites into third round of SA Match Play

South African number one Kim Williams has led all of the favourites into the third round of the Sanlam SA Women’s Amateur Match Play Championship at Benoni Country Club.
Williams won her first two matches 7/6 and 3/1 on a day when reigning stroke play champion Nobuhle Dlamini also won comfortably, as did Bertine Strauss.

Krüger stuns big names in Sanlam SA Amateur qualifying

Pretoria golfer Magda Krüger surprised the biggest names in South African women’s amateur golf when she led Sunday’s 36-hole qualifying round for the Sanlam SA Women’s Amateur Match Play Championship at Benoni Country Club.
Krüger posted rounds of 73 and 69 to finish at two under par and one stroke clear of second-placed Bertine Strauss and Bonita Bredenhann.

WGSA announces Team for Espirito Santo Trophy

Women’s Golf South Africa has pleasure in announcing the team to represent South Africa at the World Amateur Team Championships to be played at the Gloria Golf Club in Antalya, Turkey from 27 to 30 September 2012.

The team is Bertine Strauss, Alana van Greuning and Kim Williams. Accompanying them will be non-playing Captain, Sandra Winter, and National Coach, Val Holland, with WGSA President Cynthia Rayner as Manager. Pictured here are two of the players, Alana van Greuning and Kim Williams.
