Dylan Frittelli, who has recently finished his four year stint in College in America, finds himself as the 9th ranked Amateur on the World Amateur Golf Rankings (WAGR), a system run by the R&A.
Predicably, the Gauteng North team of Magda Krüger, Kim Williams, and Nobuhle Dlamini (pictured) picked up the Swiss Team Trophy for the third consecutive year at the WGSA 72 Hole Teams Championship played at Polokwane Golf Club this week.
The team led from the first round and eventually finished 16 strokes ahead of the newly formed union, Ekurhuleni – Nicole Garcia, Bonita Bredenhann and Simoné Burger.
POLOKWANE (22 May 2012) – Gauteng North A lead the Championship (439) and seem set for a runaway victory after the third round of the 72-Hole Team Championship played at Polokwane. They are attempting a hat trick, having won this event in 2008, 2010 and 2011.
Five US College students are among the 72 provincial players to compete in the WGSA 72 Hole Teams Championships at Polokwane Golf Club this week.
The players are Claudia Redinger (KwaZulu Natal), Rushda Mallick (Western Province), Yushira Budhram (Gauteng), Lynn-Marié Nagel (Limpopo) and Elise Strutt (Border) pictured here.
The City of Ekurhuleni gave its first women’s golf teams a “send off” party Tuesday evening before departure for the Women’s Golf South Africa’s 72 Hole Teams Championships to be played at Polokwane from 21 to 23 May.

Losing Henriëtte Frylinck early this year to the professional ranks has not reduced the chances of the Gauteng A team (the DAISIES) successfully defending their WGSA 72 hole teams championship title which they won at Graceland, Mpumalanga in 2010 and at Langebaan in 2011. The team still includes both top-ranked South African amateurs, each of them winning the SA Stroke Play title in the past 14 months. Central Gauteng claimed a crucial one point final round victory over a SA Junior Golf side to come up trumps in this year’s SA Challenge Inter-Provincial, but it was the eight development players from the Presidents Team who stole the show at Cullinan Golf Club on Friday.
