Zone VI Team announced

The South African Golf Association (SAGA) announced the Protea Team to play in the Zone VI tournament taking place from 13 to 15 April at Leisure Lodge Golf Resort on the south coast of Mombasa, Kenya.

The team that was chosen consisted of Coenie Bester (Gauteng North), Jared Harvey (Kwazulu Natal), Daniel Hammond (Central Gauteng), Ruan de Smidt (Central Guateng), Brandon Stone (Gauteng North), Rikus Nortje (Southern Cape), CJ du Plessis (Limpopo) and Ryan Dreyer (Captain) (Central Gauteng). Hendre Celliers (Gauteng North) was chosen as the reserve but he will be playing in Brandon Stone’s place as Stone’s travel plans to the Junior Invitational at Sage Valley in America , which the SAGA nominated him to play in, clashed with the trip to Kenya.

The Zone VI team will be managed by Colin Burger, the SAGA’s President.

The annual tournament attracts entries from up to twenty different African countries. It is a team event in which participating nations accumulate points from individual matches between players representing these countries. The country scoring the most points wins.

The defending champions are Kenya, the host nation.
