World Junior Series to come to South Africa in 2011

Whilst attending the Harder German Junior Masters, which forms part of the World Junior Golf Series, Ron Boon, Chairman of the KeNako Golf and Sports Academy, announced the launch of the KeNako S.A. Junior Masters as part of the World Junior Golf Series.

The tournament is to be played for the first time from 8th to 10th March 2011 and will host both boys and girls aged 19 and under (born 1992 and later). Players from as many as 16 countries are expected to travel to South Africa for the event, which is to be played at the Kingswood Golf Estate in George, the heart of South Africa’s beautiful Garden Route region.

The KeNako S.A. Junior Masters becomes the fourth event on the WJGS tour schedule. In his presentation Ron referred to the recent outstandingly successful Fifa World Cup and how events such as the KeNako S.A.Junior Masters can take energy and build on such events. These are exciting times for South Africa and hosting an official WJGS tournament in South Africa is a coup for golf and especially junior golf in the country. An announcement with respect to a Title sponsor is expected to be made within the next few weeks.

2010 December 20 – 22 United States Junior Masters, Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, USA

2011 March 09 – 11 The South African Junior Masters, George, South Africa

2011 June 28 – 30 The Icelandic Junior Masters, Hella, Iceland.
