Williams forges on

Steve Williams continued his good form and used his “local knowledge” to advance into the third round of the match play. After a comfortable 6/5 victory over round one opponent Jonothan Josset, Williams came up against in form Michael van der Venter. In a tight match that went to the wire, Steve managed a one up win to go through to face Regan van Heerden in the next round.

George Coetzee continues his good form with a comfortable 4/3 win over National player and Modderfontein member, Neil Schietekat in round two. This after progressing through round one with another comfortable 6/4 win over Michael Barnett. Coetzee will now face another National player and big hitter, David Hewan in round three after David beat Jbe Kruger 3/2 in the second round.

Marius Lourens from Mpumalanga is enjoying Amateur golf again after a short stint in the paid ranks and he advances to the third round after disposing of Charl Coetzee in round one. Lourens will play Southern Cape U23 player Heinrich Bruiners in round three.

In the last match of the third round Christiaan Basson (the only remaining National player alongside Hewan) will face up against Rae Mackie who beat Bassons fellow National team mate, Dandre Neumeyer, in the second round.
