WGSA announces teams to travel abroad this year
Women’s Golf South Africa announced this week that Rose Bowl winner Izel Pieters was chosen to play in the 2010 R & A Junior Open to be played at Lundin Golf Club from 12 to 14 July 2010. She will be accompanied by SAJGF selection Haydn Porteous and Manager Cynthia Rayner.
In addition to playing in the championship, the group will stay from Saturday 10 to Saturday 17 July and enjoy a full programme of events including two days at The Open Championship.
They will be accommodated at St Andrews University.
An additional selection was also announced. SA Girls Champion Connie Chen, together with Talia Nel and Lara Weinstein will participate in the Harder German Junior Masters from 3 to 5 August and then travel to Northern Ireland to compete in the British Girls’ Open Amateur Championship at Royal Belfast Golf Club from 9 to 13 August. The manager will be Erica Lefson.
It was announced previously that Connie Chen and Kirsten Campbell were chosen to play in the Jakarta World Junior Championships from 1 to 4 June 2010 and the manager is Erica Lefson. Subsequently Gauteng and Western Province agreed to send Lara Weinstein and Kelly Erasmus to make up an additional team for the event and these girls will also be managed by Erica Lefson.
