Update from Buenos Aires – Sunday
An email from the South African Team at WATC
We are pleased to say that we finally settled in very nicely in Mar del Plata. We did another make do workout around the pool area at our guest house and found a lovely old “links” type of course overlooking the harbor, where we had a lovely breakfast and a good on course practice session. This was followed by shopping in the road where most of the factory outlets are. Although the Argentinean Peso costs R2 – the clothing seems to be cheaper than back home. We found a few good bargains. We finished our Wednesday at our favorite restaurant on the beach front, called Waikiki. The rest of the evening was spent at our Guest house around the fire place, playing games.
Our last day in Mar del Plata was freezing cold, windy and rainy and we took the opportunity to relax and do some sight seeing. Friday was an early start as our return flight to Buenos Aires was at 7:30 and we had to start at 5am to be able to return the car and get to the airport in time.
On arrival in Buenos Aires we were not picked up by the official tournament transport and had to “gooi” the Spanish again to arrange for a pick up. We are getting the hang of it now. We were very happy to arrive at our hotel, the Sheraton is one of the official tournament accommodation and is 5 star quality and very comfortable. We eventually met up with Kelli after her 11 hour flight from Arkansas. The rest of Friday we spent catching up with Kelli and had a few good laughs about our stay and experiences in Mar del Plata. We did a work out at the gym that is on the 22nd floor of the hotel, so nice to have a gym at our disposal.
Erica arrived late afternoon, we all went out for dinner where some of us tried the good steaks that Argentina is known for – muy bien! We have had our first official practice round at Olivos Golf club. The course is tree lined and in very good condition, the greens are tough but very nice. everything seems to be well organized so I am sure it’s going to be a great event. We all looking forward to seeing the 2nd course later today.
Well I guess that’s it for now, we will be in touch again on Tuesday.
Cheers for now,
Kim, Connie, Kelli, Val & Sandra
