South Africa’s Demi Flanagan finished fifth and fellow TuksSport Golf Academy player Ruzanne van der Walt tied for eighth in the University of St Andrews Ladies Invitational in St Andrews, Scotland this weekend.

Flanagan from Border carded an opening five over 79 at the Eden Course to break into the top seven and carded an even-par 68 in the second round at the Strathtyrum Course.

She finished on five-over-par 147, eight strokes behind English player Gemma Batty, who also won the British Universities Ladies Championship at the Dukes Courser in St Andrews in April.

Batty from the University of Stirling golfer returned rounds of 71 and 68 to edge out Nastja Banovec from Slovenia by two strokes for victory on 139.

Flanagan’s compatriot Van der Walt grabbed a share of eighth with England’s Jen Saxton on 153. The Gauteng North player opened with an 80 and returned a 73 at the Strathtyrum Course.
