Southern Cape strengthen their position at the Top

Southern Cape beat Central Gauteng in a fairly one sided match to retain the top spot in the A section log. Coming up against the powerful Central Gauteng team did not phase the newcomers in the A section, as they handed out one of the biggest defeats in the tournament, 10 – 2. This keeps Southern Cape at the top of the log one point ahead of KwaZulu-Natal.

KZN defeated Gauteng North 8 – 4 to move into second spot alone. In the 3rd match of the day, hosts Boland, went down 7 – 5 to their neighbours Western Province.

In the B section, Mpumalanga edged ahead of Free State & N.Cape after FS&NC were held to an 6 – 6 draw by bottom of the log Ekurhuleni. Mpumalanga were victorius over Limpopo by an 8 – 4 margin. The last match in the section went to North West Province with a 9 – 3 win over the Dolphins.

With the last three teams in the A section today playing the top three, the fight to avoid relegation has started.
