South Africans juniors in the lead in India

The South African juniors all posted great scores in the second round of the Hex City Albatross Junior Championships being played in New Delhi this week.

Day one produced good scores with Dylan Raubenheimer carding 72 to lie in second position, Thriston Lawrence and Izel Pieters each returned 75s with Lara Weinstein one back on 76. Dylan had chip-in for a birdie and Izel holed a bunker shot – also for a birdie.

But day two took the South Africans to the top of the leaderboard in all sections with great scores.

Triston’s four under 68 took him to the top of the Group B Leaderboard (aged 14 and under). Dylan carded another level par 72 to top the boys’ A Division (17 and under). He was two under playing 16 but dropped shots on the final two holes for his level par score.

Izel tops the girls’ A Division leaderboard after finishing on one under 71. She was one over at 16 but birdied 17 and 18 to go two strokes ahead of Lara who finished in second position. Lara was two under at 16 but she too dropped on the final two holes to finish on level par.

The final round will be played tomorrow, Friday 3 December and the players return home the following day.
