Schietekat takes the 2006 Central Gauteng Open
With a closing round of 72, Neil Schietekat cruised to a 3 shot win over Wesley Worster and South African Eisenhower Cup player, Charl Coetzee on Sundays final round of the 2006 Central gauteng Open.
Having opened up with 68 and 67 for a half way total of 135, Neil took a one shot lead into the final two rounds over Charl Coetzee but with a solid 70 to Charls 75, Neils closest competition after 3 rounds came from young Wesley Worster afetr a scintillating 67 in round 3 to trail Neil by one.
Neil kept his wits about him, as again in final round his closest competitors stumbled allowing him to record a 3 shot win. Ruan Botha of Central gauteng had another great tournament with a fourth place finish on 284.
Branden Grace (part of the National squad from which the Eisenhower team was selected finished in a tie for 7th 2 shots further adrift. Attie Schwartzel would have been very dissapointed in his final round of 78 which sent him plummeting down the leader bard to finish in an eventual 9th spot on 287.
