Saaiman elected as SAGA acting Second-Vice President

JOHANNESBURG, 16 March 2016 – The South African Golf Association congratulates Ekurhuleni Golf Union President Martin Saaiman on his election to the position of acting Second-Vice President.

“The Executive met during the recent Sanlam South African Amateur Championship in George and Martin was elected as acting Second-Vice President,” said acting President Geoff Taylor.

“Martin has represented Ekurhuleni Golf Union on South African Golf Association from 2008 and began to serve on the Executive as the Chairman of the Championship and Tournaments Committee a year later.

“He was appointed as a national selector in 2013 and also serves on the South African Golf Association’s Finance Committee. His involvement with golf administration dates back to 1992 and we are pleased to welcome someone with Martin’s vast experience to the fold.”

Saaiman has served as the Vice Chairman of the S.A.P.S. Training Centre Golf Club since 1992 and was their representative on the Eastern Gauteng Golf Union from 2002 to 2004. He also served as the Chairman of the S.A. Police National Golf Body from 1992 to 1995.

In 2004, he was selected as Vice President at the Eastern Gauteng Golf Union (renamed Ekurhuleni Golf Union in 2004) and Saaiman has held the position of President since 2007.

“I am very passionate about the development of the game on all levels and I have taken great pride in serving the game at S.A.P.S and the Ekurhuleni Golf Union,” Saaiman said.

“I look forward to a deeper involvement with the South African Golf Association and relish the opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to the longevity and development of golf in South Africa.”
