SA Woman’s Open reduced to 36 holes
Heavy rains and a waterlogged Southbroom golf course resulted in the SA Women’s Open being reduced to 36 holes. Play was completely abandoned on Saturday and the tournament organizers made the decision to make a cut after 18 holes to the top 60 professional players and ties, which resulted in 68 players in the final round. The 5 amateurs who made the cut were Kim Williams, Ji Sun Kang, Magda Kruger, Michaela Fletcher and Bianca Theron. Kim was the best of the amateurs after 18 holes having posted a level par score. South African professionals Ashleigh Simon and Stacey Bregman start the final round one off the pace; both players had a first round score of 2 under par. The leader is Marianne Skarpnord of Norway.
Play is scheduled for 9.30 Sunday morning.
