SA take early control in Triangular
The South African Golf Association’s Junior Team claimed the early lead in the annual Triangular against South African Golf Development Board (SAGDB) and a Scottish side comprising members of the Scottish Golf Union’s Mens and Junior National Squads at Wanderers Golf Club on Wednesday.
The SA juniors scored a clean sweep against the SAGDB and downed the Scots 3 – 1 in the Foursomes.
Marco Steyn and Dylan Naidoo won both their games 4 & 3 to give South Africa the early lead.
Kyle McClatchie and Luca Filippi followed suit, winning both games 2 & 1, while JP Cooper and Herman Loubser combined to beat the Scots and the SAGDB sides by the same margin, as well.
Cameron Moralee and Ross Sinclair kept up the pressure to defeat the SAGDB’s Siyanda Mwandla and Kwanela Mkhoma 1-up, but came up short against Scotland’s Ben Kinsley and Connor Syme, who defeated the SA pair 2 & 1.
Meanwhile Scotland took their tally to 3.5 points with a 2.5 – 1.5 result against the SAGDB.
Ewen Ferguson and Craig Ross lost 1 – 3 to Fezekile Kana and Andile Adam, while Greig Marchbank and Scott Gibson were held to a draw by Hayden Garcia and Evance Vukeya.
