SA six-pack impress at World Junior
Six young golfers from South Africa recently participated at the AAU Junior Olympic Games Golf Championship in the United States, where they joined scores of juniors from all corners of the world in an international junior golf festival, presented by Veritas World Junior.
The juniors, aged six to 18, competed across 13 Boys and Girls Divisions at two courses in California.
Fourteen-year-old Jason Hale from Stellenbosch, Remon Rabie from Kathu, Dandre Spies from Worcester and Cape Town’s Michael Walker all achieved top 10 results.
Hale tied for third in the Boys U-15 Division at Tustin Ranch Golf Club in Orange Country, while Northern Cape’s Rabie finished sixth in the Boys U-11 age group at Brookside Golf Club in Pasadena
Spies from Boland finished eighth in the Boys U-14 Division at Tustin Ranch and Walker tied for ninth in the Boys U-12 Division at Brookside.
Bela Bela’s Francois Janse van Rensburg also competed in the U-12 Division and claimed a share of 14th, while Daniel Copeman from Cape Town tied for 17th in the Boys U-16 age group at Tustin Ranch.
