SA players perform well in Jakarta

After being first off on day one, the South African players teed off in the heat of the day on day two of the Jakarta World Junior Championship being played at the Bumi Serpong Damai Course.

Lara played very solid golf, pars until the 8th where she had a silly drop and turned one over. However by the 13th she had dropped three shots and unfortunately dropped another shot at the par three 14th. After some encouragment from team manager Erica Lefson, Lara birdied the 15th, 16th had a very lucky bogey on the 17 (should have been a double) and then birdied the 18 for her great round of 75.

Bertine said she was not striking the ball well and was lucky to be only two over after nine, having started with a birdie on the first. She held her round together for the next nine, dropping only one shot to also finish three over on 75.

Nobuhle scored 78 after her 77 on day one and and Bonita had another 76 but was penalised six shots for placing three times during her round, bringing her to 82. There had been placing on day one but this was rescinded on day two when conditions were drier and Bonita was unaware of the change. She would have been lying 3rd if she had not been penalised.
