SA on target for a clean sweep
After another successful day, winning all their matches, the South African amateur golf team are upbeat about their chances of winning their remaining eight games tomorrow and, for the first time in four years, walk way with the Zone VI Trophy having not dropped a point.
The second round, played today at Ndola Golf Club in the northern part of Zambia, saw the ten participating national teams play Foursomes in the morning and Four Ball Betterball in the afternoon.
“The only tight match this morning was that between Johan du Buisson and Jacques Blaauw and their Kenyan opponents Greg Snow and Ganeev Giddie. Starting on the 10th tee, the South Africans were made to struggle reaching the turn one up. “When they reached the 17th hole (the course 8th) we were one down,” explained Hassen. However du Buisson sank an 8 foot putt for par to win the hole and go all square on the match. “A birdie on the last saw us safely home,” said Hassen who is also the Vice President of the South African Golf Association.
In the afternoon matches, according to Hassen, all went according to plan.
