SA Junior girls continue good form in Jakarta

The two South African girls, Bianca Theron and Eleonora Galletti enjoyed good second rounds at the Jakarta World Junior Chamio ships and it is hoped that after the third and final round tomorrow, they can leapfrog Taiwan and Indonesia and make a run at Japan for the team trophy.

Karen Olivant reports from Jakarta.

“Today was extremely hot and unfortunately both girls had very slow players ahead of them so had to wait quite a while between shots.

“The three ball ahead of Bianca Theron was the D division and the three youngest players in the field who were all trying to play like Tiger Woods! But being the golfer she is Bianca was able to keep her concentration reasonably well and shot another 76. But by her own admission she was not striking the ball as well as yesterday and she certainly was very unlucky to miss a few putts for birdie.

“Eleonora Galletti again had a solid round of 75 and both girls are in third positions in their respective classes.

“The two boys had a very early start and although they had the best of the ‘cooler’ weather did not really take advantage. Karabo Mokoena continues to be the more consistent of the two and shot 75 so still has a chance of improving his position.

“The girls as a team are lying fourth so l hope they can leapfrog Taiwan and Indonesia and make a run at Japan.”
