SA Junior get off to a solid start in Japan while USA get off to a flier
The SA Junior team of Hayden Porteous, Brandon Stone, Drikus Bruyns and Luke Jerling put in a solid day one performance at the Toyota Junior Golf World Cup which started in Japan today.
The South African team posted scores of 67 (Drikus Bruyns), 71 (Brandon Stone) and 73 (Luke Jerling) counting toward the teams score with Hayden Porteous scoring 74 and his score being omitted in round one. The team score of 211(2 under) places the South African team in 6th position, nine shots behind the USA who got off to the start every team would have been wanting.
The USA team counted scores of 66, 67 and 69 to record a 11 under team score total of 202 and are leading by three strokes from two emerging golf nations in Thailand and India.
With three round left to play the South Africa team wont be disappointed with their first days play but will be hoping to improve if they are going to contend for the title.
