Rycraft nominated to WJTC Advisory Board
President of the South African Junior Golf Foundation, Ann Rycraft, has been appointed to the International Advisory Board of the Toyota World Junior Team Championships (WJTC), it was announced today.
“At the beginning of the month I was asked, by Executive Committee member of the competition, Eiji Tagashira, to sit on the International Advisory Board as representative for the continent of Africa,” said Rycraft. “It is indeed an honour, I naturally accepted the position.”
“The WJTC is junior golf’s equivalent of the World Cup of Golf the professionals play for each year,” explained Rycraft. The competition holds qualifying competitions on all continents of the world from which the sixteen leading nations, with teams of four players each, qualify for the final. The final is played each year over the Ishino Course of the Chukyo Golf Club situated in Toyota City just outside Nagoya, Japan.
South Africa won this competition in 2001 and finished second in 2000 and 2004.
