Province & Ekurhuleni dominate early on at SA U-19 IPT

Western Province and Ekurhuleni got off to a hot start in the Foursomes, while A-Division defending champions Central Gauteng and Southern Cape will go into the Singles all square in the first round of the 2014 South African U-19 Inter-Provincial at Krugersdorp Golf Club.

Western Province 3 – Limpopo 1
Luke Trocado and Altin van der Merwe proved too lethal for Franco van Zyl and Jaco Linde and claimed a 7&5 victory to set the tone for Province.

Hayden Garcia combined with Cole Cruickshank for a 6&5 win, but Noel Anderson and Alistair Showdon lost by the same margin to Limpopo’s Franco Putter and Gerhard Pepler.

The final game was a closely fought battle until Michael Sherrif and Luca Filippi nailed down a 2&1 win at the 16th against AJ Smit and Cameron Nesmith.

Ekurhuleni 3.5 – Gauteng North 0.5
Kyle McClatchie and Jason Froneman claimed first blood for Ekurhuleni by beating Gauteng North’s Stefan Wears-Taylor & Estiaan Conradie 5&4. Ruhan van Dijk partnered Chris van Tonder to a 3&2 victory to take their tally to two points, while Tristen Strydom and Paul Boshoff made it three with a 1-up result against Rosswell Sinclair and Albert Venter.

However, JP Cooper and Nicholaus Frade avoided a complete whitewash when they beat Dylan Mostert and Sentanio Minnie 2&1.

Central Gauteng 2 – Southern Cape 2
Reigning Nomads SA U-17 Stroke Play champion Dylan Naidoo and partner Rupert Kaminsky put Central Gauteng in the early lead with a dominant 6&5 victory, but Cameron Moralee and Caylum Boon rallied to square the match when they defeated David Meyers and Marco Steyn 4&3.

TSGE Junior Tour winner Karabo Mokoena and Keelan van Wyk delivered another masterclass performance for Central Gauteng to win 6&5, however, Jurie-Hans Human and Aidan Boon came through for Southern Cape to defeat Dean Martin and Fritz Orren 1-up.
