North West girls grit their teeth for final round against the Daisies

For the fourth year in a row, North West face neighbours Gauteng North on the final day of the Pick n Pay SA Women’s Inter-Provincial championships being played at the beautiful Irene Country Club in Pretoria. The course is in great condition and with perfect weather and magnificent old trees a feature of the course, it is a perfect venue for WGSA to celebrate its 50th Inter Provincial.

The Daisies are defending their title for the third time and North West will be pulling out all the stops to break the Daisies cycle. Tied at the top of the log, Daisies are ahead on games won – 16.5 to 12.5 so North West need a win to take the title.

In section two, Western Province A and Boland A are also tied on three points each, with WP ahead on games won, but Province will have the more difficult match against Gauteng Tigers than Boland who face a young Free State side without their to player, Lumien Orton.

In the B Division of the tournament, Eastern Cape and Mpumalanga share top honours and meet tomorrow for the decider. In the event of a tie. Eastern Cape will take the honours with 7.5 to 6.5 games won.

Finally, in section two of this division, Western Province B top the log on four points and play Border – one point back.
