Nobuhle Dlamini has great win in PE
Former SA Match Play Champion Nobuhle Dlamini carded a six under par 140 to win the Eastern Cape Stroke Play Championship by seven strokes from Nicole Loesch and Boland junior Bianca Theron in Port Elizabeth on Sunday 5 February.
Playing in perfect conditions on the 73 par Port Elizabeth golf course yesterday, Nobuhle picked up the first provincial trophy of the year, cardng 69, 71 (140) and will be hoping for a double as she commences the match play today.
In a field in which 20 of the 44 players in the championship were juniors (18 and under), some good scores were recorded on the course lengthened for the event.
Southern Cape’s Nicole Loesch carded 74, 73 (147) to tie in the runner-up position with 15-year old Bianca Theron who returned one under 72 and 75 (147). Izel Pieters from Mpumalanga finished fourth carding 75, 74 (149) and one stroke back was fellow team mate Alana van Greuning with 74, 76 (150). Ekurhuleni’s Nicole Garcia finished sixth on 76, 75 (151).
The 10 to 18 handicap division winner was Helen Bridges from St Francis Links on 191, having counted out Border President Louise van Niekerk, and 12-year old Chiara Contamathios counted out Ronel van Eck into fourth place.
The Bronze division was won by Chantelle Bader.
