Nobuhle adds another trophy to her cabinet
A strong field of 42 players competed in the Championship Division of the North West Provincial Championships held at Rustenburg Country Club last week-end. After heavy rain the previous day and on a lengthened course, the players found the going tough in the hot conditions on Saturday, with the exception of Nobuhle Dlamini who came in with a one under par 71. Kim Williams, playing in her first provincial tournament of the year, closed on a two over par 74 with Lara Weinstein signing for a disappointing 78.
However, on Sunday morning the players found it much easier with cooler conditions. The afternoon saw some very determined golfers fighting to take the trophy. Lara shot a very credible 3 under par 69 and Kim also knocked three strokes off her morning round to sign for a 2 under par 70. But neither of them could catch Nobuhle who proved why she is currently the number 1 ranked amateur golfer in South Africa. She improved steadily each round to sign for a final round 69, giving her a total of 210, 7 shots clear of her nearest rival.
Junior Kim de Klerk won the 36 Hole “B” Division on 170 (88, 82) and the “C” Division was won by another junior, Naledi Qubu with 71 stableford points.
