New boys Southern Cape move ahead

After a dissapointing draw with favourites Western Province on day one, Southern Cape pulled through another tight day, this time coming out victorius by a 6.5 – 5.5 margin over KwaZulu-Natal. The difference in this match being the extra point that Southern Cape carried into the afternoons singles having won 2.5 of the 4 points on offer in the mornings foursomes.

Things have been thrown wide open in the A section, as Boland bounced back from their loss on day one to beat Gauteng North by a 7-5 margin, with Central Gauteng beating Western Province 7-5 in the third match of the day. This leaves all teams with a chance of ending victorius at the end of the week.

In the B section, Free State & N.Cape beat Limpopo 8-4 to retain a 100% record as have Mpumalanga who beat North West in a match that went to the wire. Dolphins got a win over Ekurhuleni which moved them into 4th spot on the log.
