Namibia’s Bonita Bredenhann wins Western Province Stroke Play Championships

17-Year old Namibian Bonita Bredenhann picked up her second provincial championship title this year at the Western Province Championships played on the lengthened Kind David Country Club course on Monday 15 March. She she returned level par rounds of 72, 72 (144), two strokes ahead of Yvette du Plessis (73, 73) and Centurion’s Kim Williams (72, 74). She won the Eastern Cape stroke play championships last month at Port Elizabeth Golf Club.

Kempton Park Junior, Talia Nel finished in fourth place on 147 (75, 72) with Yushira Budhram one shot back on 148.

Henriëtte Frylinck (71) led the field after the first round in 34 degree temperatures, and the only other sub-par rounds were from Tiffany Avern-Taplin when she carded 69 and Kirsten Campbell who signed for 70, both in the afternoon round. Henriëtte and Tiffany finished on 149 to tie in sixth place with Nicole Becker, while Kirsten tied 12th with Gilly Tebbutt on 152.

The 10 to 18 handicap section was won by Devonvale Junior Olivia le Roux on 166 (79, 87) with another Junior from Clovelly, Lauren Sobotker in second place on 167 (80, 87).
