Namibian teenager scores three eagles in third round of Teams Championship

Playing on the undulating East London Golf course in the WGSA 72 Hole Teams Championship in great coastal weather, Bonita eagled 1, 5 and 15 in her five under par round. Together with team anchor Bertine Strauss who came home in a one under par 72 after her 69 this morning, Bonita took the North West team to a 15 shot lead over traditional rivals and 2008 winners Gauteng North Daisies.

On the individual leader board, Bertine Strauss still leads on four under par 215, with Bonita on 217, Eastern Cape’s Iliska Verwey on 223 and Kim Williams (Gauteng North) on 225.

Former Springbok cricketer’s Johmari Logtenberg’s one over par 74 enabled Kwazulu Natal B to lead the B Division Challenge Trophy on 469, with Limpopo nine strokes behind on 469.

While the North West team look set to win the Swiss Teams Trophy, it is the individual competition which provide the excitement when the final 18 holes is played tomorrow.
