SAGDB Mpumalanga enjoy their GolfSixes League South Africa showdown during the 2024 Africa Amateur

Through the support of the R&A, GolfRSA aims to introduce young beginners to the game through the introduction of the GolfSixes League South Africa.

Ahead of the inaugural Africa Amateur Championship at Leopard Creek Country Club, officials of the R&A enjoyed the action as top two South African Golf Development Board (SAGDB) GolfSixes South Africa League teams from the Malelane chapter went head-to-head at the Par 3 Course at the National Junior Development Centre (NJDC) adjacent to the iconic course.

Each team consisted of six players playing the Texas Scramble Format in pairs. The day concluded with each player receiving a medal, ensuring all participants felt valued and appreciated.

Thanks to the effort of the SAGDB Mpumalanga chapter manager Edwin Compton, the day was filled with excitement and laughter for all the kids involved and underlines the GolfSixes League’s mission of making golf accessible to all, regardless of background.

The GolfSixes League South Africa Mpumalanga final showcased the joy of playing golf and the friendships formed on the course, highlighting the positive impact of sport on young lives.

GolfSixes League South Africa is a shorter and faced-paced version of the traditional game, and this fun and inclusive adaptation offers the perfect platform to introduce the youth to golf.
