Monique Ramkisson scores hole-in-one in Boland Junior Championships

KZN’s Moinique Ramkisson scored her first hole-in-one when she aced her nine-iron tee shot at the par three seventh hole at Paarl Golf Club today in the first round of the Boland Junior Championships.

The leader at the half-way stage of this inaugural championship event is Kuilsriver’s Bianca Theron who shot a one under par 71, one stroke ahead of KZN’s Michaela Fletcher’s par 72.

Boland President Charmaine Fagyas was delighted to attract 43 junior (18 and under) players from the coastal provinces to this event and was also pleased with the standard of golf displayed by these young girls in temperatures which reached the high thirties by midday.

The leading group in round two will be Bianca Theron, Michaela Fletcher and top junior Lara Weinstein who was disappointed with her four over 76. Devonvale’s Olivia le Roux (78) will be teamed with Monique Ramkisson (79) and Mowbray’s Sammy Berber (80).

Nelspruit’s Bonnie Henrico leads the B Division (10 – 18 handicaps) on 80, Mpo Bangiso heads the C Division (19 – 27 handicaps) with 39 stableford points while Zilke Bal from Kuilsriver tops the D Division on 40 points.

The final round tees off at 07h00 tomorrow,s. Friday 14 January in hopefully cooler conditions.
