Modderfontein leads in Mossel Bay

Marco Steyn, Dylan Naidoo and Karabo Mokoena combined to put Modderfontein Golf Club in the driver’s seat after the first round of the Louis Oosthuizen SA Junior Club Teams Championship at Mossel Bay Golf Club on Saturday.

The defending champions carded an opening four-under-par 212 and will head into the second round this afternoon with a three stroke lead over Steenberg and Centurion.

Kingswood Golf Club from George leads the local challenge at even-par 216.

The Modderfontein quartet came from behind last year to beat Polokwane for the title.

Steyn fired a seven-under-par 65 to give the side a major boost.

Naidoo added a 70 and Mokoena contributed a 77. Eric Wowor registered a non-counting 83.
