Mistry moves clear at Ekurhuleni Champs
Gauteng’s Kajal Mistry will take a one shot lead into today’s final round of the Ekurhuleni Championship with local favourite Casandra Hall in hot pursuit at ERMP Golf Club.
Mistry was tied for fifth after an opening round of 76, but the Randpark player rocketed into pole position at three-over-par 147 when she produced a second round one-under-par 71 that featured an eagle at the par five 13 and a birdie-birdie finish .
Ebotse’s Hall kept touch with rounds of 75 and 74. Chiara Contomathios and Tara Griebenow finished two shots behind Mistry in joint third on 149 and Symone Henriques is a further shot adrift.
Lizette Vermaak carded an 86 and leads the B-Division by one stroke from fellow Glendower golfer Liezel Heyns, while Sharon Botha from ERPM lags two off the pace.
Neela Jivan from Serengeti posted a first round 38 and will start the second round of the C-Division with a six point lead over Roslyn Peter from ERPM. Local players Annalie Goodburn and Megan Symons are third and fourth respectively after opening rounds of 31 and 30.
