Michaela aces tee shot in Pick n Pay AM AM
KwaZulu Natal and SA Junior Michaela Fletcher aced her tee shot at the par three sixth hole at George Golf Club for a great start to the 2011 Pick n Pay Women’s Inter-Provincial Tournament which officially kicks off today. This was the 15-year old’s first hole-in-one which she scored playing the Pick n Pay’s AM AM on Sunday.
The foursomes and singles qualifying stroke play rounds today will determine the position of each team in the A and B Division of the match play championship commencing tomorrow. Each of the four teams (in two sections of each division) play each other from Wednesday to Friday – and the top teams meet on the final day to provide an exciting finish to the tournament.
Gauteng North A, including the SA Stroke Play Champion, Kim Williams, 72 Hole winner Henriette Frylinck and long-hitting former SA Match Play Champion, Nobuhle Dlamini, is the favourite to win the event for the fifth consecutive year. But the team can expect strong opposition from Gauteng A with scratch handicapped Lara Weinstein, Michelle Leigh and Chevonne Botha.
Southern Cape should have few problems in being promoted back to the A Division of IPT – their team includes SA Match Play Champion Ilkiska Verwey(+1) , Sandra Winter (1), Monique Smit (+1) and Nicole Loesch (0).
