Mediratta & Blaauw set early pace at KZN Qualifier

Mohit Mediratta from Central Gauteng and Gauteng North’s Reinhardt Blaauw set clubhouse target as the morning field wrapped in the first round of the 36-hole Stroke Play Qualifier for the 2015 KwaZulu-Natal Amateur Championship at Selborne Country Club.

Mediratta from Royal Johannesburg & Kensington cancelled two double bogeys with a pair of eagles and negated two bogeys with four birdies for an opening 70.

Centurion’s Blaauw responded with birdies at one, seven and 14 to grab a share of pole position.

The pair finished one stroke ahead Central Gauteng pair David McIntyre and Tyron Gibb.

Newly-minted Southern Cape Open champion Carlo O’Reilly from Western Province and Gauteng North’s Albert Venter are a further stroke adrift on even-par with home favourite Warren van Heerden.

Nicholas Botha and Eric Wowor from Central Gauteng completed the top 10 at one over alongside 2014 Joburg Junior Open champion Keagan Thomas from Boland.
