Lynn Slogrove wins SA Seniors Championship

Humewood and EP’s Lynn Slogrove won the SA Senior Ladies Championships 2010 when the event was played at West Bank and East London golf clubs this week. The six-handicapped veteran carded 169 (83, 86) to pick up the trophy by one stroke from Langebaan’s Sonja Kruger on 170 (89, 81).

Lynn and Sonja have already entered the inaugural SA Mid-Amateur Championship to be played at Kingswood Golf Estate from 7 to 10 November. This is an event that is attracting previous national and provincial players aged 35 and over from all parts of the country and entries close on 8 October.

The senior stableford event was won by Milnerton’s Jo Elves with 72 points over the two rounds, with Lesley Gelden runner-up on 70 and Mowbray’s Paula Brown in third place on 67.

Included in this field of 159 players were a number of past and current provincial presidents, including Norma Potgieter (Free State and NC), Alaine Grimes (Southern Cape), Patty Robertson (Western Province, but now Southern Cape), Eileen Shean (Western Province), Lesley Carriline (Southern Cape)and Evie Stott (Border).
