Lee-Anne crowned women’s European No 1 in Dubai

Lee-Anne Pace became the first ever South African to be crowned as the women’s European No 1 by winning the Ladies European Tour’s Henderson Money List, previously know as the order of merit, in Dubai on Saturday.

The 29-year-old from Mossel Bay held off a spirited challenge from England’s Laura Davies after both players earned five visrories each during the Ladies European Tour 2010 season.

Pace was presented with her salver and a bonus of £20,000 by Richard Wilson, Marketing Director of the tiitle sponsor, Henderson Global Investments, at an awards ceremony.

She also received a 10 year exemption to the Ladies European Tour after topping the list with season’s earnings of 339,517.77 Euros from 25 events.

Lee-Anne has raised the profile of women’s golf in South Africa and given encouragement to the players now turning pro, as well as to the many junior golfers who hope to make golf their main focus in life. From Women’s Golf South Africa – Well done Lee-Anne – we are proud of you!
