Lara leads the field at SA Girls
As on the first day of the Nomads SA Girls Championship, Lara Weinstein played the first nine in two under par but unlike yesterday held her round together to drop only two shots on the back nine and end on level par for the day and one stroke ahead of Bonita Bredenhann and Bertine Strauss.
Newcomer Anel Heselman, playing exceptionally steady golf, was one over par playing 18 but double dropped to end up with her second 75, only three of the pace.
Overnight leaders, Bertine Strauss and Connie Chen, playing in the last group, did not quite have the same form as on the first round, and on the back nine, with the wind starting to pick up, dropped a few loose shots to end up with 76 and 77 respectively. Bonita Bredenhann, the third member of the last group shot a three over 75.
Tomorrow will see an exciting last day with only three shots separating the last five players.
Free State’s Helena Buitendag leads the 36 hole 10 to 18 handicap B Division on 81 followed by young Tara Griebenow from Eastern Cape on 82. The C and D stableford divisions are lead by Paarl’s Vivienne Floris on 41 points and Royal Cape’s Jade Gray on a mamouth 47 points.
