Lara cans 10 m putt to win at Durbanville

Top-ranked SA Junior, 16 year-old-Lara Weinstein canned a 10 metre putt to win the 36 hole Western Province Junior Championship played at Durbanville Golf Club yesterday. She finished on 146 (73, 73), one shot ahead of Mowbray’s Sammy Barber on 147 (75, 72). Kim Daniels (Uitenhage) and Monique Ramkisson (Scotburgh) tied for third position on 150.

KZN’s Michaela Fletcher, runner-up in the Boland Championships on Friday, was fourth on 153. One stroke back on 154 was Stephanie Perkins from Southern Cape and Izel Pieters from Mpumalanga.

Mowbray’s Malika Allie won the 10 – 18 handicap division on 162 (85, 77) with Katia Shaff seven strokes back to pick up the runner-up prize on 169.

The stableford winners were Lara Wooton on 35 points in the 19 – 26 handicap division and Sumeez Williams with 37 points in the 27 – 35 handicap division.
