KZN only manage half a point against rampant Daisies

Gauteng North Daisies, led my a very motivated Kim Williams, trounced a strong KZN side in the first round of the Pick n Pay SA Women’s Inter-Provincial match play championship, conceding only half a point when Connie Chen halved her match with Tanica van As.

North West, Daisies traditional rivals, also dominated when they returned a 6 – 3 over the Gauteng Lions. The Lions won two of their three foursomes matched but capitulated in the pm singles when only Talia Nel picked up a point against Tirsa Mathyssen.

In the B Section, Western Province has a very good 8 – 1 win over recently promoted Free State and Northern Cape, who were playing without their number one, Lumien Orton. Boland A narrowly picked up the points in their match against Gauteng Tigers with two foursomes and three singles victories.

In the B Inter-Provincial, Eastern Cape drew with Southern Cape while Mpumalanga picked up the points against Limpopo.

Border, led by Millie Zim almost had a clean sweep over Gauteng North Blommies, only losing one match when Elise Strutt lost to Biance Barnard in the D Division. And Western Province B picked up the points with a 4 – 2 win over neighbours, Boland B.

The event continues tomorrow with the final rounds being played on Friday.
