Kok sets pace at Northern Amateur

The Pro Shop Northern Amateur Championship will restart this morning with Gauteng North’s Dylan Kok in the driver’s seat.
A total of 44 players still need to complete the second round after organisers were forced to suspend action in the 72-hole qualifier due to dangerous conditions after thunderstorms hit at Randpark Golf Club on Monday afternoon.
Play resumed at 07h00 this morning and the third round will start at 11h00 following a cut to the top 64 players and ties.
Kok from Woodhill Country Club opened with a 68 and fired a blistering eight under 64 at the Firethorn Course to set the 36-hole target at 12-under-par 142.
He leads by one from fellow Gauteng North amateur James du Preez and finished three strokes clear of big-hitting Aubrey Beckley from North West, who claimed a five stroke victory in the Sanlam Cape Province Open last month.
