Kim picks up another provincial championship

March signalled a return to 2008’s form for Kim Williams when, after winning the North West Championships at Rustenburg and the Amateur Trophy at the SA Open at Parkview, she had her third win this month at Kloof Country Club when she claimed the KwaZulu Natal stroke play championships on 142 (72, 70).

Playing on her home turf, Pam Hayward, together with junior Connie Chen, was the half way leader on 70. Pam however slipped into second place on 143 after great afternoon rounds of 70 by Kim, Marné Roos and Yushira Budhram, giving Kim the title and putting Marné into third place to tie with the 2008 winner, Bertine Strauss on 144.

The KZN Junior Championship was won by Bertine Strauss on 144 (73, 71), Connie Chen was runner-up on 145 (70, 75) and Yushira Budhram, three strokes back on 148 (78, 70).

The match play rounds commenced today, Tuesday 24 March.
