Kim confirms her place as SA’s Top Woman Golfer

Kim Williams confirmed her place as SA’s top woman golfer as she claimed the match play crown and the double at Port Elizabeth Golf Club today. 17-Year old Namibian Bonita Bredanhann took Kim to the 32nd hole before conceding the match when she was dormie four down.

Besides missing many putts, Bonita’s course management led to her not being able to capitalise on the opportunities she was given by Kim in the morning round and at the lunch break, Kim was six up. Bonita played a good afternoon round, but was never able to catch Kim and the match was over at the 32nd hole.

Young Bertine Strauss who was knocked out in the first round won a closely fought encounter against Nicole Garcia while the two flight matches were won by 16-year old Stephanie Perkins who beat Tanzanian visitor Medina Hussein and Amy Henning with a victory over Jenna Schonfeld.

The 10 to 18 B Division was won by Namibian Junior Maryke Short local girl Imkeleen Meyer. Stephanie, Maryke and Inkeleen will also be playing the Nomads SA Girls Championships to be played at Orkney Golf Club from 25 to 27 April.
