Kim and Yvette share honours at Pick n Pay Interprovincial
WGSA top ranked Kim Williams and SA Stroke play champion Yvette du Plessis shared the honours today when they both carded 68, four under par, in the afternoon singles at the Pick n Pay SA Women’s Inter-Provincial. The qualifying round was played at Paarl Golf Club in overcast conditions with a cold westerly breeze picking up during the afternoon.
Two behind on 70 were Connie Chen and Ashleigh Holmes and one-underpar Marne Roos was on 72. Top junior Bertine Strauss tied on level par with Jenna Scholfeld.
The Gauteng North Daisies took a step forward in defending the Pick n Pay SA Women’s Inter-Provincial Championship when they won the Jean Tindall stroke play trophy and headed the A Division of the event on 515.
North West, holder of the WGSA 72 hole teams championship are in second place and Gauteng Tigers and Western Province slotted into the last two positions in this group.
Gauteng Lions, KZN, Southern Cape and Boland A will contest Section 2 in the A InterProvincial.
The Nolan Karp Trophy was won by Eastern Cape on 388 with Border, Free State and Limpopo making up Section 1 of the B Inter-Provincial. The Duma sisters boosted their team with an excellent 75 in the foursomes this morning.
The round robin match play starts tomorrow, Wednesday, with foursome in the morning and singles in the afternoon and the final round will be contested on Friday 18 September.
