Kelly Erasmus shines in Jakarta

Kelly Erasmus really came into her own this week at the Jakarta World Junior Championships and she and her partner Lara Weinstein are lying fifth in the event with the final round being played tomorrow.

Kelly has played superb relaxed golf with nothing phasing her – not even the very fast greens and is striking the ball very well. She started on the 1st and her only drop shot for her 37 was on the par three 7th. She dropped on 12, doubled on 15th and had her birdie on the 14th. She ended with a 75 and is tied third in her division.

Connie Chen started the day well until and was one under after eight with a birdie on the sixth. She got to the ninth where she had a poor second into the water and had to replay her shot for a double drop to give her a 37. She could not drop a putt for a birdie on the second nine and dropped four shots. She ended with a 77 – is eight off the leader and lying 4th.

Kirsten Campbell started on the back nine, dropping shots at the 12th 13th 15th 17th and then had a triple at the 18th to turn 43. She settled on the second nine playing level par golf to the 7th where she dropped four shots on the last three holes. Kirsten shot a 82 and she and Connie are lying seventh in the team event.

Lara Weinstein started on the back nine playing steady golf with a birdie at the 14th but dropped shots at 13,15,16,18. She had the same sort out round on the second nine with drop shots and pars – she then saw Kelly who told her she was playing well and so Lara had to pull up her socks and finished the last four holes level – Final score 78.
