Kelli keeps up hot streak!

Kelli reports from Arkansas, “I just returned last night with good news. Yesterday was my moms birthday, Gary and Lundy had their first child, a healthy beautiful baby girl and I won my first collegiate title with the big guns.

“The weather wasn’t its best the first day, the wind blew at 30-40 miles an hour and it was freezing cold! The course was unique, very beautiful and reminded me a bit of Atlantic Beach except with native grass and more turns, rather than snakes and fences!

“The first round was shaky for everyone, nobody expected the wind and coldness to be so strong but I still managed two over par which I thought was solid. I had to save par A LOT to shoot that because a seven iron wouldn’t quite make 100 yards sometimes. The second round, I came back with a 68 and grabbed the lead by two over Kristina Merkle.

“The final round, yesterday, I got the call to say that Gary’s little girl would be welcomed later on and everyone kept telling me to win it for her, even though I was crying like a baby because I wouldnt be there. I did what I had to do and shot my career best 67 and won by five shots at seven under par for the tournament. Even 15 over par made the top ten in the field. I am really thankful that my coaches and family, along with WGSA, have supported me to stay here and miss whatever’s going on back home because in the past month, I have achieved two of the greatest things a college player could, the LPGA and now this.”
