Karabo has good first round and the girls play tomorrow in Jakarta
Central Gauteng’s Karabo Mokoena, pictured here with his caddy, shot a solid 76 today in the opening round of the the Jakarta World Junior Championships being played in Indonesia this week.
WGSA vice-President Karen Olivant reports from Jakarta.
“The tournament started in earnest today with the boys playing their first round. Karabo had a solid round shooting a 76 and is currently in 7th position.
“Unfortunately David Meyers did not follow suit and shot an 84 – it would appear that he cannot get his distance measurement right and also finds the greens tricky.
“Bianca Theron and Eleonora Galletti spent quite a bit of time on the practice range this morning and then followed the boys until it started to rain, which did not last too long. Bianca has met one or two boys who were here last year so that has been a bonus for her.
“The weather is not such an issue for me as it is similar to Durban in February, but have to say it has not been too hot over the last couple of days due to overcast conditions.”
