Izel Pieters leaves for R & A Junior Open
Izel Pieters, accompanied by Haydn Porteus and WGSA Vice-President Cynthia Rayner leave on Friday 9 July for Scotland where they will be accommodated at St Andrews University, approximately 20 minutes travel time by coach from Lundin Golf Club.
This year, the biennial Junior Open Championship will accompany The Open Championship back to the Fife, on Scotland’s east coast. And as the world’s best prepare to mount an assault on the Claret Jug in St Andrews, the juniors will get underway on the shores of the Firth of Forth at Lundin Golf Club, just 12 miles away.
60 nations were represented at Hesketh Golf Club during the 2008 Junior Open, and it is expected that there will be even more at Lundin. For many, it will be a first taste of international golf and of representing one’s country. But for all competitors, regardless of their experience, it will be a week that will remain etched in the memory for many years to come.
In addition to the three days of The Junior Open, competitors and delegates are invited to stay from Saturday 10 to Saturday 17 July and a full programme of events, including two days at The Open Championship has been arranged to enable these young players to fully enjoy their visit to Scotland.
Enjoy this wonderful experience Izel.
