Izel and Lara lead Rose Bowl after Round 1

Lara Weinstein and Izel Pieters lead the field after the first round of the SA Girls’ Rose Bowl being played at Kloof Country Club this week. Both players carded one-under-par 70’s, one stroke ahead of top ranked Connie Chen.

Local girl, Courtney Morris finished on 74 and Bonita Bredenhann and Talia Nel tied on 75.

Chanré Roberts from St Francis Bay Golf Club heads the 10 to 18 Silver Division on 80 with Twané Grobler (Polokwane), Michelle Wears-Taylor (Woodhill) and Lauren Sobotker (Clovelly) on 84.

These girls play their second round this afternoon with the final round tomorrow (Tuesday) morning.

The 19 to 25 stableford division is headed by Stellenbosch junior Cassidy Williams on 42 points with Tahlia Henry and Brittney-Fay Berger on 36.

Charisa Lambrecht from George Golf Club heads the 26 to 33 division on 43 points with 10-year old Chiara Contomathios in second place on 38.

The girls were all thrilled to be given sleeveless fleecy vests with matching polo necks by Lee Varrie of Golf Crazy – our sincere thanks to this generous lady for her support of girls’ golf.
