Iliska Verwey is Gauteng North Stroke Play Champion

Iliska Verwey justified her selection to the WGSA squad when she carded 146 (72,74), two strokes ahead of fellow squad member Henriette Frylinck on 148 (75,73) in the Gauteng North stroke play championship played at Woodhill Country Club today.

16-Year old Kempton Park junior Talia Nel was a stroke back on 149 (72, 77) and Strand’s Hermine Greyling, soon to join the college set in the USA, and former SA cricketer Johmari Logtenberg were tied fourth on 151.

Iliska arrived home on vacation immediately prior to the WGSA 72 Hole Teams Championship where she finished in sixth place and she and the other squad members will join coach Val Holland for the first training camp at Kingswood from 19 to 23 July before she returns to the USA in August.
