Henriques edges clear in Mpumalanga

Gauteng junior Symone Henriques will sleep on a three stroke lead in the Mpumalanga Championship after edging clear of Brittney-Fay Berger from KwaZulu-Natal at the 36-hole mark on Saturday.

The 14-year-old Glenvista golfer opened with a 76 but navigated the championship layout at White River Country Estate in 69 strokes to finish on one-over-par 145.

Berger followed a first round 77 with a 71 to slip into second.

Tournament favourite and number one ranked Kaleigh Telfer is a further stroke back in a tie for third on 149 with Zethu Myeki from Border.

Telfer from Bryanston Country Club returned rounds of 73 and 76, while Myeki from the Ernie Els and Fancourt Foundation shot 76 and 73.
